Here we sit down with Lidiya, to know a bit more about her journey as an entrepreneur.
Q. Tell us a little more about your journey as an entrepreneur – how did you get started? What inspired you?
Lidiya: Back in 2013 I started a personal development blog called Let’s Reach Success which allowed me to share my message with the world and build something on my own. I had no idea how to turn it into a business, though, but knew writing was the skill I wanted to monetize.
I looked into different options and realized freelancing makes sense. So I started writing articles for clients and used my blog as my portfolio. Other than that, I had no professional background, English isn’t my first language, I was back in my home country (Bulgaria) but was creating content mainly for countries like the US. So there were many barriers to overcome, mental ones especially.
Freelance writing became my first income stream after a period of hustling, and it allowed me to dream bigger and start growing my blog on the side.
Once I was also earning some money from my website (thanks to blog sponsorships), I felt financially secure to ditch my previous lifestyle and start a new chapter in a new country. Since then, I’ve been living on my own terms.
The blogging business has grown as I monetized in multiple ways (ads, affiliate marketing, sponsorships and digital products).
I’ve shared my revenue, expenses and anything I worked on over the years in my detailed income reports . Blog sponsorships were the income steam that earned me over $100K in 4 years. I’ve shared more about that exact journey here.
Soon after that, I was able to stop freelancing (it wasn’t my thing and I didn’t want to write for clients anymore) and focus solely on blogging.
Let’s Reach Success eventually became the foundation of my business, got over 100K pageviews/month, and opened new doors for me. My niche changed from personal development to business as I was eager to teach all those strategies to others so they can cut the learning curve in half and live the same life of freedom and independence while doing what they love.
In the last few years, my focus has been on digital products. I created multiple courses on blogging teaching all I learned in the industry over the past 7 years.
Now, my passion is to show people how to build an online course business.
I believe digital products are the most effective way to have unlimited freedom and income while providing epic value at the same time. I’ve gathered my best processes, strategies and mindset practices in terms of email marketing, creating a course and turning it into a magnetic offer, launching and selling, and packaged them into a 3-month magical business container called Bold Business School.
The program opens every few months for a couple of days, while my other courses are evergreen. Most of my time these months is focused on serving the students there, adding more bonuses, enhancing the whole experience for anyone who joins, and preparing for launches.
Q. What’s one thing in your routine that you do consistently that has made a huge difference in your personal or business life?
Lidiya: I often review everything I’m doing in my business so I can spot activities that aren’t serving me, habits and beliefs I need to let go of, and plan new things to work on that better fit the vision I have for my business.
I also invest a lot of time into personal and spiritual growth. I have my practices, such as tapping (EFT), meditation, visualization, journaling, and many other little things that help me let go of mental blocks and manifest what I desire.
Q. Who are your mentors and inspiration? and what knowledge or insight did they give to you that was valuable?
Lidiya: My business mentor right now is James Wedmore.
Gala Darling is someone whose energy I love being in, through her programs, books, socials and tapping videos.
I also learn from Kathrin Zenkina of Manifestation Babe.
And anyone else who is living the way I want to and runs a business that resembles what I want. My advice to you is to also be picky with your mentors. They shape your mind, and with that, your reality. So learn only from those who have what you’re after.
Q. What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
Lidiya: It’s any time someone emails me or messages me to tell me they’re loving my programs and have seen results thanks to my strategies. Or any time someone reads an article of mine or listens to a podcast episode and feels inspired and empowered and wants to thank me.
This is priceless.
Q. How do you market your business, and which tactics have been most successful?
Lidiya: Organic traffic has been a major component of growing my blogging business. It’s thanks to the tons of articles I’ve written and optimized over the years.
I also use Pinterest to share the content.
My main social right now is Instagram so I’m promoting my offers there too.
I often collaborate with other people or participate in bundles with other course creators and that grows my audience.
Q. What has been your biggest failures or challenges?
Lidiya: I made many technical mistakes on the blog back when I was learning how all this works. I was also afraid to launch and sell my offers some time ago.
I was afraid to invest in better tools for my business or good programs, and I waited way too long for that.
Q. How did this failure, or apparent failure, set you up for later success?
Lidiya: I have no regrets at all as my mistakes and failures allowed me to figure out a lot on my own, build more skills, be able to now teach others that and know what they are going through.
They also let me build the mindset necessary to reach every next level. I’m excited about the failures as much as I am for the successes because of the lessons from the former lead to the satisfaction of the latter.
Q. If someone was to create a TV show about you, what would it be about and what would it be called?
Lidiya: ‘The Pursuit of Freedom’
It would share my hustle period in the beginning, how I had to set boundaries and disappoint people with that, let go of my old mentality, leave my home country, etc.
Then, the next stage would be about my emotional freedom, where I allowed myself to be whoever I want to be, live authentically and more slowly, breathe deeply and find pleasure in everything I do while I run my business.
The next stage would be now – realizing that freedom was there all along, I just haven’t been giving myself permission to have it and was feeling restricted by society and my own limitations.
The powerful message at the end of the movie would be that we can all have anything we desire, it begins with permission, a decision and a vision.
