Mikhail Lopushanski has been appointed as the new chief information security officer of Heritage Bank.
Ashley Deuble, who held the position for just one and a half years before leaving for the cyber security consultancy Intalock, is replaced by Lopushanski.
Thyaga Seperamaniam replaced Deuble as interim CISO at the mutual bank after Deuble’s departure.
Seperamaniam “has returned to his substantive role as senior information security manager,” a Heritage Bank spokeswoman told iTnews Seperamaniam.
According to the spokeswoman, Lopushanski now answers to the bank’s top risk officer.
Brisbane will serve as the base for Lopushanski’s position at Heritage Bank.
Lopushanski managed the security environment and operations for the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority for nearly ten years as its chief security officer.
Heritage has made significant security progress, but the process is ongoing. In this area, we must always take preventative measures to safeguard our members.
On LinkedIn, Lopushanski also expressed his gratitude to his former APRA staff, writing, “With our small professional team, we accomplished and achieved a lot.”
Prior to that, he spent four months as a short-term independent consultant and over eight years in various strategy and security roles at NSW Businesslink, a branch of the Department of Family and Community Services.
He also spent six years working for the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority, mostly as their IT security and e-commerce auditor.
