Elon Musk to Auction Twitter Memorabilia Including Signs

Elon Musk is organizing an auction featuring items from Twitter, the social media company he purchased last year. Among the 584 lots up for bidding are distinctive Twitter building signs, coffee tables, oversized bird cages, oil paintings of viral images, desks, chairs, musical instruments, and even a DJ booth. This auction follows Twitter’s recent rebranding as “X.”

The items being auctioned include a Twitter sign still attached to the company’s headquarters in San Francisco. Prospective buyers must arrange for the proper removal and permits. Also on the auction block are two oil paintings depicting viral Twitter images: Ellen Degeneres’ 2014 Academy Awards selfie and a 2012 tweet by then-US President Barack Obama, the platform’s most-liked tweet at the time.

Musical equipment, such as guitars, drum kits, amplifiers, and a Pioneer & Yamaha DJ booth with controllers and speakers, will also be available for bidding. The minimum bid for each item is set at $25 (£19.70).

The auction is scheduled to take place from September 12 to 14, organized by auction house Heritage Global Partners. This event comes as Elon Musk has been implementing cost-cutting measures at Twitter since his acquisition of the company for $44 billion. The auction provides an opportunity for enthusiasts and collectors to own unique memorabilia from the social media giant’s history.
