Copyright Agency investigates cyber incidents

The copyright collecting agency in Australia is investigating a possible cyber intrusion that has affected services for its more than 37,000 members.

On Friday, the Copyright Agency, which pays royalties to authors, photographers, and other artists to reuse their text and pictures, alerted members of the event. “Copyright Agency has experienced a cyber event, which has resulted in a disruption of our routine services,” the non-profit said in a short message to members. “We are currently in the early phases of examining the situation and are unable to share any specifics at this time.” “As a precaution, we have contacted the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, and we are collaborating with relevant law enforcement agencies and the Australian Cyber Security Centre.” While it is unknown what was obtained during the incident, member accounts contain contact information and bank account information.

The Copyright Agency has apologized for the inconvenience and is working to restore service access. “We are striving to restore our systems as soon as possible so that we can resume normal operations,” it stated.
