Geoffrey Huntley, an Australian artist, and programmer have created a website that claims to let people download ‘’Every NFT’’ for free. NFTs are getting popular in the market. Though NFTs are sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars, the artists claim to give them for free. NFTs are digital tokens that can prove ownership of digital items including artwork.
Why Geoffrey is giving NFTs for free?
The artists who created the website ‘’Piracy’’ said that they wanted to show people what they are buying. Tech News site Motherboard reported that Mr. Geoffrey’s website is modeled after a well-known software and movie piracy the Pirate Bay. It offers ‘’ all NFTs from Ethereum and Solana’’-two cryptocurrencies attached to the ‘’token of ownership.’’ Also, critics of NFTs figure out that anyone can have access to the ‘’ token of ownership.’’ Moreover, they can download and copy the digital artwork attached.
Geoffrey Huntley said, ‘’ NFT art right now is nothing more than directions on how to access or download an image. The image is not stored on the blockchain. ‘’
He also hopes that the website means ‘’future generations can study this generation’s tulip mania’’- a reference to one of the well-known examples of a financial bubble.
Criticism on NFT Bay download
The opponents of digital currency say owning the NFT carrier influence and bragging rights- and that means right-clicking and saving an image is not the same. Meanwhile, the NFT Bay download contains images of NFT artwork. It does not have any of the digital tokens that ‘’prove ownership’’.
Also, the critics believe that they’re just images on screens with a culture of ‘’get rich quickly’’ schemes and scams. Meanwhile, Geoffrey Huntley said, ‘’ the greed/scamming going on is sickening.’’
One user tweeted, ‘’ More than anything else I’ve seen or read, this torrent may finally disabuse anyone of the notion that NFTs have inherent value.’’
Another said, ‘’ sell your NFTs everyone; the party is over!
