Prior to Rohit Vohra’s departure, TAFE NSW is recruiting for a new chief information security officer.
Vohra was the first CISO of TAFE NSW and was appointed in 2019.
Vohra is “going on to other possibilities in the competitive cyber security area,” a TAFE NSW representative told iTnews.
According to TAFE NSW, the incoming chief information security officer would be required to “improve our capacity to address the challenges we are observing internationally.”
A spokeswoman informed iTnews that TAFE NSW has “implemented a considerable number of steps over the last three years to ensure our students and staff remain cyber-safe.”
The new CISO will be responsible for making sure that TAFE NSW safely and securely manages risks to its data and digital environments and maintains compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
The new CISO will be responsible for building the cyber security team and overseeing TAFE NSW’s cyber security strategy, and will report to the organization’s CIO Fiona Rankin.
According to TAFE NSW, the systems provide services to more than 500,000 students.
An extensive programme of work, including “the ongoing lift and shift to a safe and secure cloud based operating model, through to the increased adoption and promotion of data analytics, automation, machine learning, and the benefits of virtual reality and augmented reality as educational learning platforms,” were listed as examples of how important cyber security is in the advertisement.
