chain of discount pharmacies Damien Ballesty, a former employee of Officeworks, has joined Chemist Warehouse as its new CIO.
Ballesty made his change public on LinkedIn and stated that he would formally take up the new leadership position in February 2023.
As “an inspirational $6.8 billion retail success story who last year served over 130 million consumers and had over 180 million internet views,” he applauded Chemist Warehouse’s dedication to innovation.
Ballesty said last month that, after three and a half years, he would be leaving his current role as general manager of technology at Officeworks.
Being “the steward of a superb technological team” at the Wesfarmers-owned office supply company, he wrote, had been a “humbling honour.”
Ballesty formerly worked for Accenture’s Javelin Group, a digital retail strategy company, before joining Officeworks.
He has substantial IT experience in European stores like Selfridges, Brown Thomas, Holt Renfrew, and de Bijenkorf. He has also provided consulting services to Deloitte Australia.
Officeworks said it would release a statement regarding Ballesty’s replacement soon.
