After combining IT and digital into a single C-level role nearly three years ago, the University of Canberra is again hiring for a permanent chief information officer.
David Formica, a 20-year employee of the institution, served as CIO until January 2019, when he was promoted to chief digital information officer, taking on responsibilities for both IT and digital. He took early retirement this year.
It seems the institution has recently chosen to divide the C-level positions for IT and digital.
In March, Craig Mutton was chosen to serve as the university’s CDO and vice president for digital.
Since Formica left, however, two interim hires have carried out the CIO duties.
Stef Batts-Cirilli was first hired as the interim CIO, but he has since been promoted to the position of deputy director of vendors and operations.
A digital master plan that addresses cyber security, a platform roadmap, and a data strategy are all included in the strategy.
The University of Canberra is seeking to hire a chief information officer in a permanent full-time position as it begins to implement an innovative digital strategy, according to Mutton.
