Bank of Queensland (BoQ) has introduced ME Go, its third app operating on a cloud-based banking system developed as part of a multi-year transformation initiative. The mobile-only banking app offers a comprehensive in-app banking experience, including bill tracking, live chat capabilities, and face and touch-based biometrics.
The newly acquired customers of ME Bank are expected to be migrated to the ME Go app at a later stage. BoQ’s $1.325 billion acquisition of ME Bank has played a crucial role in strengthening its strategic position and advancing its cloud-based digital retail bank technology platform.
ME Go joins the existing myBOQ banking app, launched in 2022, and Virgin Money app as the third application on the new platform. According to ME CEO Martine Jager, the ME Go app marks a significant milestone in their IT transformation journey, enhancing both employee and customer experiences and offering a viable alternative to traditional banks. Jager also highlighted the app’s ability to improve scale, data capabilities, and cost efficiency in serving customers.
ME Bank continues its customer-centric approach
In addition to its digital strategy, ME Bank is dedicated to bringing BoQ Group’s new purpose of “building social capital” to life. The ME Go app enables customers with a ‘SpendME’ account to donate to multiple charities by contributing one cent to the chosen charity each time they tap with their digital wallet. Charities participating in the program include the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Beyond Blue, Australian Wildlife Conservancy, Minus18 (supporting LGBTQIA+ youth), and Orange Sky (addressing homelessness).
ME Bank continues its customer-centric approach by using debit cards made from 82 percent recycled materials and incorporating braille for the visually impaired, demonstrating its commitment to accessibility and sustainability. The ME Go app represents another step forward for BoQ and ME Bank in delivering innovative and socially responsible banking solutions to their customers.
