Scott Morrison- Australian Prime Minsters says it is ‘’important’’ to attend the climate conference in Glasgow. However, there is no agreement yet with the Nationals.

United Nations-led Summit

United Nations organizers required nations to confirm their representation earlier for the event so that slots can be assigned for the leaders.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed on Friday to attend Cop26 because of its importance. Morrison had to carefully handle the situation say no agreement had been reached with the junior coalition partner on commitments for the conference.

The new policy commitments for Glasgow are expect to be unveil next week. Once government MPs return to Canberra for a new parliamentary sitting. However, the Prime Minster timetable is out on Friday.

‘’ The government will be finalizing its position for me to take to the summit before my departure over the next fortnight, Morrison says in a talk with a journalist in Sydney.

He further added,

‘’ We’re working through those issues with our cabinet and with our colleagues and I look forward to those discussions concluding over the next couple of weeks.’’

Net-Zero Commitment

Prime Minister has been working on a commitment to adopt net zero commitment. As US president brought the US back into the Paris agreement.

Moreover, Prime Minster wants to formulate its policy of reduction in emission ahead of the conference. He also expected to increase its target of emission reduction and its part of the negotiations with the Nationals.

Though the nationals are not on board for 2050 policy, therefore, Morrison Choose his words carefully on Friday and says:

‘’ I simply say to everyone that net-zero was… an outcome that I outlined at the beginning of this year consistent with our Paris Commitments.’’

He says, ‘’ the challenge is not about the, if and the when, it is about the how, I’m very focused on the how because the global changes that are happening in our economy as a result of the response to climate change have a real impact.’’

‘’ They will have a real impact in Australia.’’

He believes that it’s not about hitting net-zero, rather it’s an environmental goal that must be address soon.
