On Tuesday, Australian Journalist Jonathan Swan won the 2021 Emmy Award for his outstanding edited interview with Donald Trump in August 2020.
The 42nd annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards were announced by the National Academy of Television Arts &Sciences in New York.
His expressions during the interview as he listened to Donald Trump launched thousands of memes online and went viral.
The political correspondent at the Axios news site made international headlines. He doggedly but politely questioned the ex-US president about his response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
‘’ I’m deeply honored to have won this award and grateful for the gifted, generous team who helped me make the interview a great piece of journalism,’’ Swan talked to Guardian Australia after winning the Award.

What had happened during the interview?
The ex-US president Donald trump shuffling through his papers as he put him on the spot asking a question regarding the death toll in the US.
‘’ well, right here, United States is lowest in numerous categories, ‘’ Donald Trump said, ‘’ we are lower than the world.’’
Jonathan Swan: ‘’ Lower than the world? Oh, you’re doing death as a quantity of cases. I’m talking about death as a proportion of the population.’’
Trump also said, ‘
’ I did more for the black community than anybody with the likely exception of Lincoln …’’
Swan: ‘’ You believe you did more than Lyndon Johnson who passed the Civil Rights act?
The interview got international attention and was widely shared across the world. Norman Swan, father of Jonathan swan twitted,

In Emmy Awards he beat ABC News and 60 Minutes America entries for the programs about the Republicans, Vladimir Putin, and the US District Judge Esther Salas.
