ANZ appointed its first chief technology officer

Tim Hogarth, the former chief architect of ANZ Banking Group, has been appointed to the newly formed position of chief technology officer.

According to the bank, Hogarth’s new post will ensure that “ANZ’s multiple technological projects correspond with business strategies.”

Hogarth is anticipated to push for technical improvements and “further expand ANZ’s shift toward shared technology platforms.”

Hogarth will now report to Gerard Florian, group executive of technology, and will lead the bank’s technology investments and growth initiatives while performing architecture tasks.

Florian expressed his “satisfaction” with Hogarth’s appointment to the new position, which was “established to represent the significance of technology leadership within my team and throughout ANZ more widely.”

“In recent years, Tim has assisted us in making significant progress in further reinforcing our architecture objectives and driving continuous improvements in our engineering standards,” he stated.

Tim’s track record, as well as his reputation for being knowledgeable, engaging, and enthusiastic about many aspects of technology, make him an excellent choice for this new position.”

As chief architect, Hogarth oversaw ANZ’s Centre of Excellence for architecture and engineering, responsible for upholding application and engineering standards.

Before joining ANZ, Hogarth was the vice president of innovation framework strategy at Canada’s TD Bank. He also spent ten years working at the Commonwealth Bank in several roles, including head of customer interaction architecture and application platforms
