A whistleblower at the Reserve Bank claims Defamation of ChatGPT

A mayor in central Victoria, Brian Hood, who previously blew the whistle on bribery within Reserve Bank subsidiary Note Printing Australia and Securency, is reportedly launching legal action against ChatGPT for allegedly making defamatory statements about him.

Hood’s lawyers have claimed that the generative AI tool incorrectly identified Hood as an individual who faced charges related to the bribery scandal, rather than his actual role as the whistleblower. As a result, Hood’s reputation has been defamed by ChatGPT’s inaccurate representation of him. The legal action aims to rectify this and ensure the accuracy of information provided by AI systems like ChatGPT.
