As of November 4, 2022, thousands of Australians will have access to cheaper healthcare following the relaxation of income tests for the Commonwealth Seniors Healthcare Card.
The Commonwealth Seniors Healthcare Card is a card that provides eligible seniors with access to cheaper healthcare.
The relaxation of the income test for the Commonwealth Seniors Healthcare Card is a welcome measure that will make healthcare more affordable for many Australians. This is especially important at a time when the cost of living is rising and many families are struggling to make ends meet.
About 44,000 people who already have the card will save money on medicine right away, and an extra 52,000 older Australians will benefit by 2026.
“As of November 4, more older Australians are able to access the Commonwealth Seniors Healthcare Care Card,” Social Services Minister Amanda Rishworth said.
“We’re delivering on this election commitment to help ease the cost of living.”
