As the nation prepares to mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II, many businesses are making plans to close their doors out of respect. Among those businesses are some of the biggest names in the UK, including McDonald’s.
All of the chain’s locations in the UK will be closed on the day of the funeral, which is set for September 19.
In a statement, McDonald’s said that it was “deeply saddened” by the news of the Queen’s death and that it would be “paying tribute in our own way.”
On Twitter, the company confirmed all its stores across the UK will be closed until midnight until 5 pm on Monday, September 19.
McDonald’s is not the only company planning to close its doors for the Queen’s funeral.
Many other businesses, including supermarkets, banks, and some transportation services, are also making plans to close or adjust their hours.
The funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey at 11:00 BST on Monday and will be attended by senior members of the royal family, including the Queen’s grandson Prince William and his wife Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The funeral of the queen will be a national event in the UK, with all schools and many businesses closed for the day.
