After being excluded from a fundamental systems revamp, software provider Mark43 filed a lawsuit, which NSW Police says it will “vigorously defend.”
As part of a billion-dollar upgrade to NSW Police’s COPS system in 2021 known as the integrated policing operating system (IPOS), Mark43’s contract with the agency was cancelled.
With the help of its “single platform” records management system and CAD, Mark43 was supposed to offer the call-taking, dispatch, records, investigations, and forensics components of IPOS.
On September 9, Justice Michael Ball heard the case for directions.
Devora Kaye, a spokeswoman for Mark43, claimed in a statement to iTnews that the NSW Police Force (NSWPF) was a cherished client.
“Since Mark43 initially started working with NSWPF, it has been dedicated to providing a top-notch technology solution.
“Mark43 made every attempt to work with the changing NSWPF leadership and to continue implementation of this project, just as it is committed to doing with each customer, and has a proven track record of successful deployments in more than 120 police departments.
“Despite Mark43’s numerous attempts to settle this issue informally, NSWPF has given the firm no choice but to seek the necessary remedies.”
