AGL digital adoption to deliver a better customer experience

Energy company AGL to uplift its customer’s experience despite the market struggle. The company strategy is to adopt digitalization and provide better retail business. The Australian energy company services remain stable at 4.2 million. It includes a 50,000 increase in telecommunication services. Though, there had been an unplanned breakdown. However, the company did not focus on the failure but rather upgrade its system. 

AGL Managing Director and CEO, Graeme Hunt in 2022 full-year results said, ‘’the results reflect the resilience of the business against the backdrop of a very challenging energy industry and market conditions that intensified in the second half.’’ 

AGL Mobile Application and My Account Services 

Hunt further added that more customers are interacting with the company through digital channels. Millions of customers are using AGL mobile App and My account services. Since App users remarkably reached millions is attributed to digital adoption. It results in attracting more customers to use the services. 

He said that AGL’s users base alongside, ‘’ prudent margin management, has positioned us well despite increased volatility and churn in the market.’’ Meanwhile, AGL Chief operating officer Markus Brokhof said that ‘’the firm’s established digital twins for both its Bayswater plants and Loy Yang A will ‘’ reduce physical testing and instead optimise the operating conditions and capital works.’’ 

Digital Control Systems and Monitoring systems upgrade

Moreover, Brokhof said that the Digital Control System and Monitoring System are upgraded. It will help to understand the system and take action in real-time quickly. Jo Egan, AGL’s chief customer officer added the NEO platform. It will manage the distributed energy resources including residential batteries. He said, ‘’ it is already delivering value through orchestration of these assets connected via our virtual power plant.’’ 

He further added that transformation programs in retail drive efficiency across the business. It simplifies products, technology and business architecture. He said, “This program is already delivering benefits and our simplification activity is well underway.’’

Moreover, “Process enhancements and product rationalisation have delivered improvements in handling times and improved speed to market of over 30 percent.”
