The ANZ chart shows a clear path to cloud

ANZ Banking Group expects to migrate or elevate “the majority” of its IT and application estate into the cloud over the next three to five years.

ANZ has been “a little slower out of the blocks” on cloud adoption, according to Florian, for “a variety of reasons.”

“While we’ve been using cloud for a long time, it’s not at the size we’d like,” he explained.

“We’ve recruited some people into the organisation over the last couple of years who have done this with other financial services organisations.”

“As you might assume, we’ve also been collaborating with our cloud partners.”

“ANZ Plus has been a great stimulus for what we’ve been working on in the cloud,” Florian remarked.

“It’s far from the only part of the bank using the cloud, but ANZ Plus gave us a chance to think differently about how we combine a number of technologies or components using the cloud as an underpinning foundation, working not only with new infrastructure but also with new application providers – both specialist financial services companies like Zafin and well-known companies like Salesforce, who have a lot of experience providing their so-called cloud services.”

“By combining all of those elements, ANZ Plus enables us to efficiently create some essential components of our stack, beginning with the customer and working backwards.”
