Coles is testing app-linked shopping trolleys in Victoria. The digital app replaces the $2 coin. Now you can go shopping with no cash, and not have to worry about Trolley payments. It’s a ‘’coinless trolley’’ which uses a phone instead. Cole’s national retailer is trailing this new application.
The solution to expensive problem of trolley theft
The grocery giant Coles is testing the technology for possible solutions. It will help to overcome the problem of trolley theft. According to different outlets including the Herald-sun reports, the trial is taking place at Cole’s Camberwell store.
Talking to iTnews Cole’s spokesperson said, ‘’ Coles is trialling coinless shopping trolley locks at one of our Victorian stores, using technology which means customers will no longer need a coin to unlock a trolley.’’
There will be a QR code on the Trolley that is linked to the Coles sMart Shop App on the customer’s phone. The user will purchase a $2 ‘’digital coin’’ through the app. Once the trolley is returned and locked, the deposit will be returned to the customer’s account.
Camberwell Trial of sMart Shop App
During the trial, those who can’t use the coinless trolleys will get assistance from the staff members. They will make arrangements for them. The spokesperson said, ‘’ It’s hoped that the technology will help minimize abandoned shopping trolleys in the community.’’
Meanwhile, App’s in a statement talks about data collection on google play and ensures that sMart Shop doesn’t collect any user data. Therefore, there is no question of sharing data with third parties. It is secure and safe for customers to use.
Australian supermarket Company Coles testing of the App will make it easier for customers to shop without worry about theft, and cash payment. The use of the mobile phone is reliable and quick and preferable in modern times.
