Lawmakers confront TikTok, Snapchat, and YouTube: An inquiry into Social media impacts

Washington- representative of social media platforms including Snapchat, YouTube, and TikTok lawmakers before Senate panel. The testimony discusses the impacts of social media on teenagers and Children, and how to protect them.

The panel includes Subcommittee on consumer protection, product safety, and Data security.  The inquiry follows the recently leaked document by the Wall Street Journal, and the revelation of Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen.

The documents showed how Instagram is taking over mental health and is toxic for teenagers. Hence, Senate is trying to make Facebook Accountable for various things including promoting eating disorders.

YouTube

Meanwhile, Chairman Senator Blumentor (D-CT) talk about his experience on YouTube when he was young.  He says YouTube suggests eating disorder content if someone watches a movie about excessive diet and eating problems. And ‘’ There isn’t a means out of this Rabbit gap.’’

Vice President and Public Coverage at YouTube, Leslie Miller says YouTube bans content that beautifies eating disorders. Though, it promotes coverage of Allow ads for Weight loss, besides the picture will get in the way in which.

TikTok

Similarly, TikTok contains annoying content as discovered by The Wall Avenue Journal Research. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) confronts TikTok head of public coverage within America, Michael Beckerman. Snapchat
