Woolworths has announced it will be flagging shortages of some potato chips and frozen foods over the summer due to the wet weather.
The supermarket giant said the rain had impacted potato crops, leading to a potential shortage of some chips brands.
“We’re experiencing some shortages of a small number of potato chip products due to the unseasonably wet weather impacting potato crops,” Woolworths Group chief executive Brad Banducci said.
“We’re working closely with our suppliers to manage this and apologise to our customers for any inconvenience.”
Woolworths also said customers may see shortages of some frozen foods over the coming weeks.
“The unseasonably wet weather is also impacting some of our frozen food suppliers, which may result in shortages of some products over the coming weeks,” Mr. Banducci said
“We’re working closely with our suppliers to manage this and apologise to our customers for any inconvenience.”
The wet weather has been a major issue for farmers across the country, with many struggling to get crops planted and harvested.
