Western Australia border opening date is March 3

Western Australia’s hard border restrictions will get ease from the third march. The government allows triple-dose vaccinated arrivals from other states to enter WA without quarantine. However, social restrictions are in implementation to avoid the spread of Omicron.

Meanwhile, international travelers will be permitted if they meet commonwealth requirements to enter Australia. Moreover, they have to take a rapid antigen test within 12 hours of arrival.

Premier Mark McGowan Announcement

Premier Mark McGowan said in a statement, ‘’ the virus is already here and we cannot stop its spread.’’ It is expected that the cases will reach a new peak of 10,000 by the end of March. He said, ‘’ March 3 will be a step forward for Western Australia, a safe step forward, taken at the right time, in the right way, for the right reason.”

He also believes that the cases are already increasing, and the border restrictions are not effective anymore. Though, border restrictions are necessary while people get their vaccination. RAT will be provided to all arrivals from interstates.

Australians flying into Perth will undergo quarantine in a hotel for a week. International travelers must follow the rules set by Commonwealth.

Restrictions unveiled by Premier to limit the spread of Omicron

The indoor mask is made mandatory for the entire state. Meanwhile, ‘level one measures’ are to come into effect in Perth, peel of southwest, Great Southern, Pilbara and Wheatbelt. Furthermore, 2 square metres capacity limit for the following;

  • Cultural venues
  • Hospitality and entertainment venues
  • Fitness venues
  • Beauty services
  • Hairdressers
  • Places of worship

Meanwhile, 75 percent capacity is for theatres and cinemas. In nightclubs 500 people can enter following the 2 square metre rule. Mr. McGowan said that these rules will provide safety for venues such as music and hospitality. He said, ‘’ It’s important to note, that standing consumption is still allowed and dancing is still allowed.’’

Additionally, workplaces must apply COVID-Safe measures, and people are not to work from home.

Australian Medical Association’s WA president Duncan-Smith appreciates the restrictions. He said the restrictions that have been put in place are appropriate and measured.’’

‘’ these restrictions aren’t severe as South Australia, however, vaccination rates in WA have moved over those three weeks and accordingly these restrictions are appropriate. ‘’

Also, these restriction must be practice to ensure the safety of the people.
