University of Wollongong wants a director of data and analytics

To oversee a recently established data and analytics section, the University of Wollongong is looking for a chief data and analytics officer (CDAO).

The university noted in a job posting on LinkedIn that the CDAO will create a vision and plan for whole-of-enterprise data analytics for the university, “embedding a data-based decision-making culture across the organisation.”

The new section is “a relatively small unit of about 13 personnel, but with a role that will ensure best practise data governance and assistance across the university,” a university official told

According to the spokesperson, universities must utilise the same rigour and data-informed techniques for accomplishing their plans and operational effectiveness as they do for research and teaching because of the significant upheaval the higher education sector is through.

Universities manage a variety of complicated data, according to the spokesman, and how we manage data safely and effectively is a primary emphasis for all organisations.

“At UOW, we recognise the value of data-informed decision making and the need for analytical methodologies that can enhance our students’ educational experience, graduation outcomes, and staff members’ ability to operate effectively and efficiently.”

Sean Brawley, who assumed his position early in 2022, the deputy vice chancellor for strategy and planning, is the person who oversees the position.
