Outside the local scout hall in Ulladulla, Coralie Smith, a resident, joined forces with her mother Melissa to establish the Little Free Food Pantry. Their aim was clear: to ensure that every Ulladulla family had access to sustenance.
This innovative pantry not only addresses the pressing issue of food scarcity but also tackles food wastage head-on. Through donations from both community members and nearby supermarkets, surplus items that might otherwise go unused find a purpose, reaching individuals who might otherwise experience deprivation.
A significant portion of the food originates from the nearby Coles store, which diligently replenishes the pantry each day with an assortment of baked goods, meat, and fresh produce. Woolworths also contributes to the cause with a weekly provision of groceries, often encompassing multiple pallets of food and merchandise.
Furthermore, the pantry experiences a consistent influx of supplies courtesy of the community’s magnanimous residents. One local individual, Michelle, has been benefiting from this service for nearly three months. For her, it has been the decisive factor between merely having one daily meal and enjoying a more substantial and nourishing diet.
