Twitter announced on Thursday that it will offer select content creators on its platform a portion of the advertising revenue generated. This move aims to attract more creators to the social media platform and encourage their active participation.
Under the new program, eligible content creators will receive a share of the ad revenue generated from ads displayed in their replies. To qualify for the program, creators must be verified users with a minimum of 5 million impressions on their posts in each of the last three months. Additionally, they need to have a Stripe payment account to receive their earnings.
Twitter’s initiative to share ad revenue with creators follows its earlier introduction of paid subscriptions for user content. Earlier this year, the company enabled users to offer paid subscriptions to their content on the platform. Elon Musk, the billionaire who acquired Twitter in October 2022, stated that in the first year, Twitter would pass on the entire subscription revenue to creators, excluding payment gateway charges.
By providing financial incentives to content creators, Twitter aims to enhance its appeal as a platform for diverse and engaging content. This initiative not only benefits creators by offering them additional revenue streams but also contributes to the overall growth and vitality of the Twitter ecosystem.
