Toyota has revived and done modifications to its four-wheel-drive Prado and has also introduced price increases in the range.
Prado sales have been over the roof this year as the Aussie public seeks to explore its own home due to the closure of international borders, ironic!
This year’s revision of Prado focuses more on upgraded safety equipment and changes in styles to keep the Prado brand fresh and attractive in the presence of new rivals entering the space.
What Are The Upgrades?
Toyota Australia senior executive Sean Hanley says safety is very important for our customers and the company has responded appropriately.
“We are committed to ensuring that our customers benefit from the peace of mind that comes with the latest high-quality security features,” said Mr Hanley.
“These safety updates, along with a wide range of visual enhancements, confirm that we have never had a better time exploring Australia’s large backyard in this modern vehicle,” he said.
Specific Changes
The GX and GXL ranges – two less expensive models – are fitted with blind spot monitoring and background traffic notification as usual. The latter alerts you to cars that are about to cross your path when reversing.
The most expensive VX and Kakadu brands get new 19-inch wheels.
Increase In Price Ranges
All ranges have gone up in price close to $ 1000.
The base version, Prado GX now comes for about $ 60,830 (before on-road costs), rising to $ 87,807 in the Kakadu range.
The Prado maintains the same 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel cylinder of 150kW and 500Nm, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The towing capacity with the brakes stays at 3000kg.
