The Treasurer promotes digital counsel for the super business

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has emphasised the importance of digital technologies in assisting consumers in receiving effective superannuation advice.

Chalmers stated in a speech presented by Conexus Financial that with 3.6 million Australians set to retire in the next ten years, “it is critical that people obtain quality and inexpensive guidance… An increasing number of Australians will want information and solutions in order to plan for the retirement they deserve.

“That’s where digital can help,” he explained at the event.

Digital technology, Chalmers added, might offer “new approaches to provide high-quality, cost-effective guidance at a broader scale”.

According to Chalmers, the digital sector is already valued up to 8% of GDP, and this is even higher in the superannuation and financial services sectors.
