The MSI confirms a cyber attack

Computer hardware manufacturer MSI has confirmed that it was the victim of a cyber attack targeting some of its information systems.

The attack was claimed by a new ransomware group called Money Message, which stated that it had stolen databases, some source code, and BIOS firmware. MSI reported that it observed network anomalies and activated its defence mechanisms and recovery measures promptly.

The affected systems have resumed normal operations, and the company has stated that there has been no significant impact on financial business. MSI urged users to obtain firmware/BIOS updates only from its official website and not from any other sources.

The company has pledged to enhance its cyber security architecture and management to maintain business continuity and network security. MSI has reported the incident to relevant authorities.
