George-Philip de Wet, who previously served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA), has departed from his position to lead the establishment of the technology operations for Australia’s newly formed National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC).
Former DTA COO Assumes Key Role in Anti-Corruption Commission As the General Manager of Enabling Services at NACC, de Wet’s responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum, spanning ICT, finance (including procurement), records and knowledge management, security, and property services.
The NACC, officially launched on July 1 after being legislatively established in December 2022, confirmed de Wet’s appointment to iTnews.
According to information provided to iTnews by the NACC, de Wet will oversee an enabling services branch initially comprising 24 staff, with the possibility of adjustments as the commission’s structure and workforce develop.
De Wet’s public service career traces back to 2008 when he joined the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. He later transitioned to the DTA in 2016, initially as its Chief Finance Officer (CFO), before assuming the role of COO in August 2018.
Before his tenure at the DTA, de Wet spent over three years with the Department of Treasury, where he also served as the department’s CFO for more than two years.
After heading the DTA’s corporate division for a little over two years starting from November 2020, de Wet resumed his position as COO in February of the current year.
