The Department of Defence has found its next CIO

Chris Crozier has been appointed as the next Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Defence, following an extensive six-month search. Currently serving as the Group CIO for Orica in Singapore, Crozier will assume his new role at Defence on August 1. The announcement of his appointment was initially reported by InnovationAus and has since been confirmed by a Defence spokesperson. With a wealth of experience in global executive positions, Crozier has demonstrated strong leadership in business and technology transformation across different functions and cultures. Defence is eagerly anticipating Crozier’s arrival and looks forward to his contributions to the senior leadership group. The search for a new CIO began in late November of the previous year when Stephen Pearson, the former CIO, neared the end of his five-year fixed-term. Prior to his role at Orica, Crozier served as the Group CIO for BHP for an extended period.
