According to Telstra, problems that prevented “certain” business-oriented NBN and digital office technology (DOT) connections from functioning nationally have been fixed.
A sentiment-based outage tracker shows that users began reporting issues as early as 12.15pm, while it seems that reports to social media platforms specifically increased during the past hour.
Customers who called Telstra for phone assistance reported that wait times had increased to more than an hour during the height of the outage, and that an automated message had acknowledged the existence of a “severe outage.”
IT consulting firms also reported problems with Telstra connectivity for their clients.
Telstra acknowledged the problems by updating its outage status website.
It stated in a brief notice that “We are looking into an issue affecting select Telstra NBN and DOT customers nationwide.”
“Voice and data services may not be available to customers. We are attempting to fix the problem right now.
By mid-afternoon, according to a Telstra spokeswoman, the problems had been fixed.
The spokesman responded, “[It] has been fixed, and services are back up.
“We’re sorry about the downtime today. We recognise how crucial connectivity is, especially for businesses.”
