U.S. technology giant Apple has officially announced its plan to delay the reinstatement of staff in the office at least until January 2022. The decision comes at a time when they fear an increase in Covid cases in America.
Workers were informed of the decision in a company notice on Thursday, first reported by Bloomberg News.
Delta Variant Risk
The company has informed all its remote workers that it would re-confirm the plans a month in advance and advised them to get vaccinated completely.
It is the latest American tech giant after Amazon and Google to review its back to office plans in view of the impact of Delta variant spread in the country.
Apple had previously asked its staff members to return to office in early September, but then changed that to October.
No Plans Ro Shut Down Stores
When the employees will be asked to return, they will be expected to work at the office for at least three days a week.
The company has also increased its Covid testing program for domestic workers to three times a week, reports Bloomberg.
According to Bloomberg, Apple has no plans to close its offices or stores.
Reduced Operational Hours
However, the organization also said that one Apple store in Charleston, North Carolina, had been closed after more than 20 employees were tested for Covid or had contracted the virus.
Some American stores are said to have reduced opening hours due to sick or isolated employees.
