Sydney Water elevates data stack for immediate judgement

Australia

As part of an ongoing transformation programme, Sydney Water has improved its real-time insight production and decision-making skills in financial-related domains.

According to Sridhar Pydipati, head of digital business projects at Sydney Water, a “major backoffice overhaul” was undertaken in part to offer “real-time analytics on how our systems are working [and] how our finances are moving.”

In order to “attempt and make a difference soon,” SAP Analytics Cloud was implemented as part of the change.

As a result of the quicker release, Sydney Water will have “greater time to act on intelligence” and insights from the report, “and make a difference” to its performance.

The capacity to swiftly access information, make changes, and spot revenue or financial leaks has been one of the main obstacles in managing our costs, according to Pydipati.

Therefore, it has been pretty effective for us.

Sydney Water’s SAP Ariba instance has SAP Analytics Cloud integrated to better understand how purchase orders are created.

Additionally, the stack comprises Power BI, BW/4 HANA, an Azure data lake, “which we started deploying very recently,” and an earlier version of Business Objects and a data warehouse environment.

In order to uncover useful insights, Pydipati claimed that the utility had shifted more toward self-service analytics models.

Making data simply and securely available is what you should attempt to achieve, he advised.

Once that is made available to them, they will begin controlling the analytics [theirselves] based on what is achievable in terms of the art.
