Starlink’s LEO Satellites Power Free Wi-Fi Trial at Nambucca Heads Railway Statio

Transport for NSW has embarked on a three-month trial of complimentary Wi-Fi at Nambucca Heads station, utilizing Starlink’s low earth orbit (LEO) satellites to address a cellular blackspot. Daily access is capped at 60 minutes per user. Positive feedback from commuters will inform future service enhancements, focusing on enhancing the passenger experience, particularly in regions with prolonged connection intervals.

In collaboration with the NSW Telco Authority, the trial explores the potential of LEO satellite technology for broader applications within Transport for NSW’s digital connectivity project. The trial’s progress will be closely monitored by Transport for NSW, ensuring prompt troubleshooting for any technical or performance issues that may arise.
