Services Australia is set to receive a capital investment of $580 million over four years to support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of myGov. Entitled “Services Australia Secures Funding Boost for myGov Platform”, the initiative marks a significant investment commitment compared to previous years.
Previously, myGov was working on a $134.5 million nutrition budget allocated in the last federal budget, with no prospects beyond the current fiscal year. The $580.3 million over the next four years represents an impressive increase, averaging about $145 million per year.
This inflow of funding is intended to provide stability and support for the continued development of myGov as a key component of the national service plan. Recognizing the importance of a sustainable economy, the myGov study had highlighted the challenges posed by intermittent funding, emphasizing the need for ongoing financial certainty and to facilitate its development very emphasize.
In addition to the core funding, myGov is set to receive $139.6 million in continuing support each year beyond the first four years, according to budget documents. This continued funding will ensure the stability and continued growth of the platform.
The grant will be used to maintain and enhance the capabilities of the myGov platform, with plans to continue an independent advisory panel to provide guidance on potential improvements through 2027-28.
