Service NSW is seeking to fill the position of Chief Digital Officer (CDO) following Katherine McDermott’s departure at the end of last year.
The Department of Customer Service, the state’s primary digital agency, now oversees over 1200 NSW government services across 50 agencies, with a budgeted expenditure of over $840 million for 2023-2024.
According to a recruitment advertisement, approximately 80% of Service NSW’s demand comes from digital channels. Additionally, the agency must maintain a seven-day phone service and an expanding network of service centers.
The CDO will be responsible for driving continuous development and improvement to enhance key operational functions of digital delivery, the advertisement states. They will also have the opportunity to engage with all corners of the NSW community and support the development of innovative solutions to ensure the NSW government is viewed as a trusted entity delivering customer-focused and intuitive solutions to everyday needs.
A Service NSW spokesperson informed iTnews that McDermott, the former executive director of digital services, held the position being filled by the new CDO. McDermott has since joined a startup called See Me Please, which focuses on providing accessibility user insights, as mentioned in her LinkedIn post.
