The Reserve Bank of Australia is aiming to bolster its IT workforce by increasing the number of IT graduates it hires for roles in cyber security, software, and data engineering. The central bank has opened its IT graduate program and plans to bring in eight IT graduates for 2024, up from four to five in previous years. The bank decided to invest in the program after observing a high retention rate of 85% since 2017. The two-year program will include four six-month placements, with rotations in areas such as cloud, DevOps, platform engineering, enterprise architecture, network services, and data technologies. The RBA also offers IT internship programs to attract talent from high school, and has developed a comprehensive training and development plan to show the career path from intern to second-year graduate.
