Qantas, the airline giant, has laid out a strategic path for the next two years, highlighting its shift to cloud technology and efforts to enhance the digital customer experience.
In its recent 2023 results, Qantas announced that 35% of its $300 million transformation budget will be dedicated to data and digitalization in the coming year.
Key goals include completing its IT cloud transition, adding features like baggage tracking to its app, and improving functionality for bookings. Revenue management systems and data-driven decision-making are also in focus, benefiting aircraft maintenance and efficiency.
Fleet renewals and network improvements (25%) and innovative work methodologies (40%) complete the transformation agenda, including plans for virtual reality for cabin crew.
Qantas plans to expand its digital customer experience and operational efficiency by 2025. The airline invested $89 million in technology and digital advancements during FY23.
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce highlighted investments in customer experience and the airline’s solid financial standing, reporting an underlying profit before tax of $2.47 billion and a statutory profit after tax of $1.74 billion.
