Qantas to Increase Vegetarian Food Options amid Backlash

Qantas has announced that it will be increasing its vegetarian food offering on all domestic flights.

The airline is set to increase the offering of a vegetarian meal option on all of its long-haul flights, and will now be offering a wider range of vegetarian and vegan options on all of its domestic flights. This includes both hot and cold meals, as well as snacks and dessert options.

The move comes after the airline stopped offering vegetarian meals on some of its domestic flights.

Some passengers were caused angst by the decision, with one frequent flyer taking to Twitter this week to express his frustration after he was only offered a chicken pie on a flight from Adelaide to Sydney.

Following customer feedback in recent days, the airline has decided to increase its non-meat variety.

“The message about having vegetarian offerings on all flights is clear, and we are making that change a priority,” Qantas Executive Manager of Product and Service, Phil Capps said in a statement.

“We are still in the process of making a lot of changes to our service that we made during Covid.”

“We’re working hard to make Qantas great again and that includes listening to our customers’ feedback as we keep investing in our product and service.”

In Qantas Australia, food is an important part of the culture. The airline provides a wide variety of food options for its passengers, ranging from traditional Australian dishes to international cuisine.

There are also a number of speciality restaurants available on board, offering passengers the chance to experience a range of different flavours and styles.
