Hugh Jackman urges people to wear sunscreen after going through a skin cancer test. The actor can be seen wearing plaster on his nose. He posted a video on instagram where he asked his followers to protect themselves from the sun.
The actor said that growing up in Australia he never cared about screen protection. In an interview to BBC,he said, “Being an Australian it’s a very common thing. I never wore sunscreen growing up so I was a prime candidate for it.”
Born in Sydney to English-emigrant parents, the actor is best known for his role as Wolverine in Marvel’s X-Men franchise. Recently his doctor spotted irregularities that he believes could be or could not be basal cells (Carcinoma). However, he is still waiting for the test results.
This is not for the first time, back in 2013 he had a cancerous growth removed from his nose. He had received treatment for basal cell carcinoma several times. He said, “Just to remind you, basal cells, in the world of skin cancers, is the least dangerous of them all.”
BCC is the most common type of skin cancer
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a type of skin cancer that originates in the basal cells, which are found in the deepest layer of the epidermis. BCC is the most common type of skin cancer. It usually appears on areas of the body that have been exposed to the sun, such as the face, neck, and arms.
Treatment for BCC typically involves surgical removal of the tumor, along with a margin of healthy tissue.BCC rarely spreads to other parts of the body. However, if left untreated, it can grow deep into surrounding tissue. Which can cause disfigurement or loss of function.
In the video message Jackman said,“Put some sunscreen on. You’ll still have an incredible time out there, all right. Please be safe.”
