NSW gov cloud panel now has five additional suppliers.

As part of the most recent intake, an additional five suppliers were appointed to the NSW government’s cloud buying arrangements (CPA) panel, bringing the total number of panellists to 17.

Six companies, including AC3, Datacom, and NetApp, were covertly added to the panel after a September 2021 approach to market, as iTnews reported this week.

But now, five more cloud service companies have been added to the CPA panel, including AUCloud, Network Synergy, Rackspace, Sliced Tech, and Tata Consultancy Services.

According to a Department of Customer Services representative, 11 new suppliers were included in the most recent intake, but more would be added in the upcoming weeks.

The appointments take place at a time when the deadline for agencies to employ public cloud computing “for at least 25% of their ICT services” by 2023 is quickly approaching.

Around 17% of IT services were being housed on the public cloud as of November 2021, leaving 8% to make the switch.

According to an Ovum survey of over 70% of government decision-makers, it is anticipated that this number might eventually increase to as high as 84 percent.

In order to make it simpler for agencies to use infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), and related services, the CPA panel was created in the middle of 2020.

In July 2020, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, IBM, Macquarie Telcom, and Vault Cloud were the next providers to sign on.
