The NSW Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) is enhancing its digital capabilities and is in the process of appointing its inaugural Director of Digital Data and Intelligence to lead these efforts.
NSW EPA Seeks Leader for Digital Strategy The EPA recently posted a job vacancy for a director tasked with “developing digital solutions and data platforms to bolster environmental protection.” This role also includes providing “intelligence and spatial services to support regulatory decision-making based on evidence” and expanding the EPA’s geospatial capabilities.
An EPA spokesperson emphasized the importance of digital tools and strategies in broadening the agency’s regulatory and decision-making capabilities. They stated, “We are currently in the process of hiring the EPA’s first Director of Digital Data and Intelligence, who will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our digital strategy.”
As outlined in the job description, the Director of Digital Data and Intelligence will have a budget of $15 million for ongoing and future projects, including upcoming tenders that they will be managing.
This director will report to the EPA’s Executive Director of Program Delivery and Innovation, a position advertised in June of this year.
The EPA spokesperson noted that the organization is in the final stages of recruitment for the Executive Director role.
