Next CIO is named by NBN Co

Rob Sewell has been appointed as NBN Co.’s new permanent chief information officer.

Sewell, the top technology strategy officer for Malaysian telco Maxis, has spent the last ten years in Asia.

He was, however, formerly employed by Telstra for a very long period and served as its director of architecture.

Sewell will relocate to Melbourne and begin working for NBN Co. as CIO on February 6, 2023.

The transition took place after Debbie Taylor, the previous CIO, left her position in July.

Sewell has “significant knowledge in systems architecture, engineering, and procedure, and its application in difficult and competitive industries,” according to NBN Co. CEO Stephen Rue in a statement.

As we continue to streamline our IT systems and procedures in order to improve network service delivery, industry efficiency, and partner and customer experience, Rob will play a crucial role, according to Rue.

The business is presently working on a programme for technological transformation that builds upon an earlier $200 million makeover.
