NBN Co announced that it will lay off around 500 employees as part of its financial restructuring efforts.They company has plans to cut positions, which amounts to around 10 percent of its workforce.
According to a spokesperson, NBN Co has initiated an engagement process with its employees. The company plans to discuss upcoming changes that will impact the company’s size and structure.
The spokesperson said,“As a result of the changes, the company expects that around 10 percent of current roles or around 500 people will be made redundant,”
“The company’s priority is to consult and communicate directly with employees in the first instance.”
Primarily target middle and senior management positions
NBN Co intends to primarily target middle and senior management positions across all business units in the redundancy process. It may also impact employees at other levels. However, the company aims to safeguard and enhance field-based positions related to its fibre connect upgrade program. Also, upgrades to its fixed wireless and satellite network.
In fact, just last month, the company initiated a substantial recruitment campaign for service technicians in various regions of Australia.
