Meta releases its first social virtual reality, Horizon worlds after having it in a private test mode for a year. Since Facebook has changed its name to Meta, this is the first release. Previously, Facebook has announced its Plans to build Metaverse for better digital connectivity. This new app is similar to Roblox or other creator-based applications. It can be used to create mini-games and activities on to of Meta base game.
However, it will function a bit differently. For example, on Roblox game creators sell their games in a currency. While Meta has put $10m (£7.6m) into a “creator fund” for community reward. Anyone can participate in the competition and win money.
Also, those players who have Oculus Quest 2 headset made by Meta are free to play Horizon World games.
Age for Horizon World
Anyone aged 18 or over can create their floating Virtual avatar, which is similar to Meta’s use in its workplace-focused meeting system. Meta said in the announcement, “our vision for Horizon Worlds is to bring to life a creator-friendly VR space with best-in-class social world-building tools. And we have spent the past year developing those tools and improving them based on creator feedback.”
The tools used for the creation of games are directly built into the virtual reality game. That players don’t require any extra effort of downloading or other steps. BBC wrote, “Players can fly around their world and place items such as trees or shapes to use as “building blocks” to make a custom digital environment. Then, they can use “scripts” – pre-made snippets of code that affect the world around the player – to set the rules of the game. “
The game includes Shooting, river cruises, magic flying broomstick world, and platforming games including many other ideas.
