Meta’s new high-end VR headset Meta Quest Pro was unveiled by Mark Zuckerberg at the Connect conference on Wednesday. The headset aims to take a major leap forward in VR technology.
Zuckerberg said that the new headset will allow users to “experience things in a way that’s much more realistic and natural.” He added that the new headset will also be much more comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.
The Meta Quest Pro will be nearly four times the price of Meta’s current headset, with an asking price of $2,449.99.
The price tag reflects the new features, which include facial expression tracking to allow avatars to mimic users’ faces, and sleeker LCD displays.
It will allow for graphics to be placed over real-world footage, making it difficult to distinguish between the physical world and the metaverse.
In addition to the improved visuals, the Meta quest pro also offers hand-tracking capabilities, allowing users to interact with virtual objects in a more natural way. The device also features a new “passthrough” camera, which allows users to see the real world around them without taking off the headset.
