Sam Hallawell, the head of platforms and data at Kmart, has been hired by ANZ Banking Group to serve as its new head of cloud platforms.
As far as is known, Hallawell takes Keith Ferguson’s place, who left to ANZx in February. Since then, Joel Heenan has been portraying the part on stage.
Hallawell, who spent two years working for Kmart, made last night’s announcement on Linkedin about his new position as head of cloud platforms.
According to Hallawell, “Cloud adoption is a strategic business objective for ANZ and further expanding this expertise is crucial for its success in the future.”
I’m excited to carry on working with significant partners like AWS and Google to help one of Australia’s most significant FIs (financial institutions) achieve business transformation, security, and efficiency.
Gerard Florian, the ANZ Group Executive responsible for Technology, told iTnews in May that the bank had been hiring executives with a track record of cloud migration for the previous two years to support its plan to move “the majority” of its IT and application estate into the cloud within the following “three to five years.”
We will be looking to hire globally in the coming year for the head of platform engineering position, which is a crucial component of our technology strategy, Blyth said.
To assist the retailer’s shift to AWS in 2020, Hallawell joins Kmart. This involved creating a team for cloud architecture, creating cloud operations and security, and putting best practises governance into action.
