KIM K ANNOUNCES SKIMS “DOWN UNDER”

SKIMS Co-founder – Kim Kardashian-West – has announced that she would be partnering with David Jones, an Australian upmarket department store, to make SKIMS more accessible for Aussie consumers.

At present, Australians would have to purchase via SKIMS’ US e-commerce site. They would have to pay a large shipping fee and then wait at least 14 days for the items to arrive.

The partnership would put an end to the tedious process, making it easier for fans of the shapewear, loungewear and undies to purchase.

“I’m so excited to see SKIMS launch in Australia and can’t wait for everyone to experience the brand in real life at David Jones,” Kardashian said.

The celebrity entrepreneur had previous launched the brand with Swedish fashion executive Jens Grede in 2019. Ever since then, fans have been calling for Kim to bring the brand to Australia; with posts on the SKIMS Instagram page regularly flooded with requests.

David Jones has yet to announce the date of when SKIMS would be available in stores. Instead, they are creating a waitlist for those who wish to be the first in line to buy the undies.

David Jones is currently the only stockist of SKIMS in Australia.

SKIMS was released to “create the next generation of underwear, loungewear, and shapewear.”

They were designed to “enhance” a woman’s curves and has been proudly inclusive in its sizing and advertising campaigns since its launch.

Bridget Veals, the womenswear and accessories general manager at David Jones, said the SKIMS body-positive ideal made the partnership into something they were looking forward to.

“SKIMS is already a highly sought after brand in our market so we are delighted that we can make it accessible for our customers to try and engage with in-store with support from our team of fitting experts, and of course shop via our website,” she said.

Veals is thrilled that David Jones is the exclusive bricks and mortar retailer in Australia to stock SKIMS. She also believes that both brands support and celebrate size inclusivity and body positivity; making it an ideal partnership.

Celebrities including Ashley Graham, Sofia Richie, and Kate Moss were announced as the new faces of the brand in July.

SKIMS is reported to be valued at $1.6 billion.
