Jemena, a gas pipeline and powerline operator, has partnered with Salt Security to bolster the security of APIs used in its modernized app estate. The utility has employed Salt Security’s solutions to identify APIs within its ecosystem, including shadow APIs, and gain insights into data transmitted across APIs to prevent inadvertent exposure of sensitive information and data exfiltration. Additionally, Salt Security helps Jemena generate API specifications, simplifying the documentation process and ensuring an up-to-date inventory of APIs.
Daniel Gordon, Jemena’s Cybersecurity Architecture Lead, stated that the utility expects a fourfold increase in API traffic within the next year. This growth prompted the need for a dedicated security solution to safeguard their APIs.
Salt Security was incorporated into an application modernization project initiated by Jemena in the previous year. Recognizing the importance of API security, the utility made it a central component of the project.
By leveraging Salt Security’s expertise, Jemena aims to fortify the protection of its APIs and ensure the secure transmission of data across its digital infrastructure.
