Recently, a German robotics manufacturer known as Neura released a video of humanoid robots. Their robot is called 4NE-1. It can perform a variety of tasks such as moving boxes and ironing clothes. It was a promotional video. Meanwhile, Nvidia is showcasing new tools at the Siggraph conference in Colorado for humanoids.
According to tech crunch reports, Neura gives early access to Nvidia’s humanoid development and deployment tools. The list has 1X, Boston Dynamics, ByteDance Research, Galbot, Mentee, Robot Era, Field AI, Figure, Skild AI and Fourier. Some of these are the most prominent ones in the industry.
Neura’s project is in the early stages. Neura is using a new video to announce its collaboration with Nvidia’s robotics portfolio. The video features simulations used to test and train systems, alongside real-world scenarios involving the bot. While these videos are impressive, they should be viewed with some scepticism until systems can consistently perform tasks in real-world environments at scale.
More raw video footage of the 4NE-1 robot in the field would be valuable. Most humanoid robots are still in pilot stages, with Agility’s partnership with logistics giant GXO being a notable exception, though large-scale deployment remains distant.
Nevertheless, Nvidia’s commitment to humanoids signifies strong support for this emerging category and is expected to accelerate development and attract more new entrants.
